Real Dates offers personal introductions and fully planned first dates for Tampa singles ready to meet in real life

TAMPA, Fla., September 3, 2026 — Tampa may be one of the best places in the country to be single, but meeting someone meaningful can still feel difficult. Tampa recently ranked as the third best city for singles in the United States in a WalletHub study comparing 182 cities across 35 measures of dating opportunities, affordability, recreation and social conditions.

Now, Tampa singles who are tired of profiles, prolonged messaging and endless swiping have a new way to meet. Real Dates has officially launched in Tampa and is accepting applications for its founding membership.

Positioned between dating apps and traditional matchmaking, Real Dates offers a more personal approach to modern dating. Each prospective member completes an application, an introductory interview and a background check before entering the matching process. Potential matches are thoughtfully selected by a person, not an algorithm.

When two members are matched, Real Dates plans the first date from beginning to end. Membership covers details including the restaurant reservation, dinner and gratuity, allowing both people to focus on the conversation rather than the logistics.

“Modern dating gives us more ways to communicate, but it does not always help us connect,” said Robin Laurino, founder and curator of Real Dates. “People spend so much time studying profiles, texting and trying to understand someone before they have even met. I wanted to bring back the anticipation of a first date and give two people the chance to simply sit across from each other and see what is there.”

Real Dates is partnering with The Dan at Hotel Flor and Timpano to provide distinctive settings for its curated dates. The restaurants were selected for their atmosphere, hospitality and ability to make meeting someone new feel like an occasion.

“The Dan is truly excited to partner with Real Dates because we believe there is nothing more timeless than love itself,” said Asa A. Amber Harris, director of sales and marketing for Hotel Flor Tampa. “Our historic setting and warm, elegant atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for meaningful connections and unforgettable moments. The Dan is a place where stories begin, memories are made and love is celebrated.”

Real Dates is now accepting applications as it builds its founding Tampa membership and begins a new chapter for intentional dating in the city.

“In Tampa, there’s no shortage of people to meet,” Laurino said. “Real Dates is here to make those introductions feel more thoughtful, more exciting and more human.”
